Scientists

CSIRO's Division of Mathematical and Information Sciences is organizing something called "Tech Fest 05" [http://www.cmis.csiro.au/techfest/]. In case you're wondering what kind of exciting stuff happens at such a festival, check out a couple of the advertised sessions:

What’s Hot in Statistical Modelling

and

Opportunities Related to Large Data Sets

I would like to think these titles were meant to be satirical, but probably not. Though useful, I would be quite shocked if there is, in fact, something (anything at all) "Hot" about statistical modelling, and although large data sets are nice to work with, I'm not sure if they generate a festival-like atmosphere.
